Can SnapGene Assemble Illumina or NGS reads?
SnapGene cannot handle or assemble large NGS datasets.
SnapGene does not have assemblers appropriate for assembly (de novo assembly or Map to reference assembly) of long sequencing read data (PacBio or Oxford Nanopore [Minion]) or short read data (Illumina).
It is possible to import small fastq files (limited to <100 reads) into a SnapGene Collection.
SnapGene does incorporate the CAP3 assembler for de novo assembly of Sanger reads. For more information see the Guide lesson – De Novo Assembly of Sanger Sequences.
